Abstract

This study aims to reconstruct a conceptual model of Islamic educational leadership management based on a socio-cultural approach within the framework of Javanese cultural values. The study is motivated by the dominance of normative-theological and modern managerial approaches in Islamic educational leadership, which tend to overlook the role of local cultural values in shaping leadership practices. Therefore, this research seeks to integrate Islamic leadership principles, Javanese cultural values, and management functions into a comprehensive and contextual framework.

This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach using a library research method. Data sources consist of approximately 80% reputable journal articles and 20% relevant textbooks related to leadership, Islamic education, and cultural studies. Data were collected through documentation techniques and analyzed using content analysis, including data reduction, classification, interpretation, and synthesis of concepts.

The findings reveal that Javanese cultural values such as ing ngarso sung tulodo, ing madya mangun karso, tut wuri handayani, as well as principles of harmony (rukun) and empathy (tepa selira), are highly compatible with Islamic leadership values such as uswah hasanah, shura, and amanah. This integration results in a socio-cultural leadership management model consisting of three main dimensions: spiritual, socio-cultural, and managerial. The model emphasizes that effective leadership in Islamic education requires not only managerial competence but also the ability to internalize religious and cultural values simultaneously. Furthermore, in the modern context, the implementation of Javanese cultural values remains relevant but requires adaptation to technological and organizational changes. This study contributes to the development of Islamic educational leadership by offering an integrative and contextual model that bridges religious principles, local wisdom, and management practices.
