Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to KASBI: Jurnal Ekonomi Syariah undergo double-blind peer review. The identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from each other to ensure objective evaluation. The process consists of the following stages:

1. Initial Screening
The editor assesses the manuscript’s fit with the journal’s focus and scope, the completeness of its components, and compliance with the template. Manuscripts that do not meet basic requirements may be desk-rejected or returned to the author for formatting. This stage takes up to 7 working days.

2. Similarity Check
Manuscripts are checked using similarity detection software (Turnitin or equivalent). Manuscripts with a similarity index above 25% are returned to the author for revision before further processing.

3. Peer Review
Manuscripts that pass the initial stages are sent to at least two reviewers with relevant expertise. Reviewers evaluate originality and novelty, scholarly contribution, methodological soundness, depth of analysis, currency of references, and clarity of language. The review process takes 2–4 weeks.

4. Editorial Decision
Based on the reviewers’ recommendations, the editor makes one of the following decisions:

  • Accept Submission: accepted without revision.
  • Revisions Required: accepted with minor revisions.
  • Resubmit for Review: major revisions required, followed by another round of review.
  • Decline Submission: rejected.

If the two reviewers’ recommendations differ significantly, the editor may invite a third reviewer.

5. Author Revision
Authors revise the manuscript based on reviewers’ comments and submit a response-to-reviewers table. The revision deadline is 2 weeks for minor revisions and 4 weeks for major revisions. Manuscripts not returned within this period are considered withdrawn.

6. Final Decision and Publication
Accepted manuscripts proceed to copyediting, layout, and author proofreading, and are then scheduled for publication in an available issue.

The final decision on acceptance or rejection rests with the Editor in Chief.
